The Founders' Edition — 250 numbered bottles, 250 numbered tins

Why the first 500 Founders' units ship as 250 numbered Pill bottles and 250 numbered Powder tins, what the Damascus Red wax seal means, and the design choices behind making something we'd be happy to receive ourselves.

What it is

The Founders' Edition is the first 500 units we ever ship, split across both products: 250 numbered Pill bottles and 250 numbered Powder tins. Each one is numbered 001 through 250 within its own SKU. Each one is finished with a Damascus Red wax-seal element — pressed wax on the bottle, a wax-sealed outer presentation box on the tin.

The Founders' Edition is available exclusively to the pre-launch waitlist. One Pill bottle and one Powder tin per customer (a customer can choose either, or both). Exact pricing is released at launch. Once each cohort sells through, the standard release begins and the numbered format retires.

Why we did it

Three reasons that overlap:

1. To make something we'd be happy to receive ourselves. Both founders are particular about packaging. Aesop's screw-press boxes. Le Labo's hand-labelled neighbourhood numbering. Hermès' embossed seals. Every brand we admire treats packaging as part of the product, not a wrapper around it. A numbered + sealed bottle is the version of The Barakah Pill that matches that posture.

2. To honour the people who joined the waitlist before we shipped a single bottle. A pre-launch waitlist signup is an act of faith. We hadn't shipped anything yet. We hadn't received our HFA certificate yet. The waitlist members trusted us based on the brand and the founders alone. The Founders' Edition is the version of the product we send to those people first.

3. To create a piece of brand archaeology. Five years from now, if Innately Halal is what we hope it can be, the Founders' Edition bottles will be the artefacts that mark the beginning. Numbered. Dated. Pressed-wax-sealed. We want the people who hold bottle 001 through 050 to know they have something specific.

The design choices, one by one

The wax seal colour: Damascus Red (#7B1F2A).

In our brand colour system, Damascus Red is reserved as a "seal colour" — a single notary-stamp accent per page or surface, never used as a fill. The Founders' Edition is one of the few places the colour gets to appear on the product itself.

The reference is the deep red wax used by Damascus apothecaries and notaries through the Ottoman period — a colour associated with formality, authority, and the practice of marking something as committed. We didn't want a bright red (too aggressive), a maroon (too modern), or a burgundy (wine connotations). Damascus Red is none of those.

The numbering: 001/250.

Three-digit format. Always padded with leading zeros. Always followed by /250 to indicate the edition size within the SKU. This is a direct lift from the limited-edition art and design world, where the numbering format itself communicates "this is one of a small set."

The Pill numbering is hand-applied to each bottle's wax seal. The Powder tin is engraved 001 through 250 on the lid by the tin manufacturer; the engraving is permanent. Both formats carry the slight imperfection that comes from individual application — Machine-perfect seal application would defeat the purpose.

The seal motif inside the wax:

"FOUNDERS' EDITION · 001/250" wrapping around the inside of the Pill bottle seal, with the central pressed-wax detail showing the IH apothecary monogram (the 8-point Islamic star with the mortar-and-pestle line). The font is a custom-cut Fraunces Soft caps at miniature scale. The Powder tin carries the same monogram, engraved into the brass lid, with the numbering engraved into the base rim.

The numbering position:

Lower-right of the label. Visible but not dominating. The label still reads INNATELY HALAL → THE BARAKAH PILL → بَرَكَة → dosage line → bottom-corner cert text first; the seal is the last thing the eye registers.

Why 250 of each, 500 total

We considered 100 per SKU (too few, doesn't seed enough community), 1,000 per SKU (too many, dilutes the editioned feel), 500 of just the Pill (over-weighted on one product). 250 each is the size that:

- Lets us seed the first cohort across both products without depleting Founders' Edition inventory before the waitlist is satisfied - Stays small enough that "I own number 042 of 250" still means something - Splits the long-term packaging-COGS burden — the engraved + wax-sealed treatment is a once-only entry gesture; standard refills and replacements all come in the plain tin or bottle underneath - Matches the published-edition convention from the art world, where editions sit comfortably in the 250 – 1,000 range

If our manufacturing partner's MOQ requires a larger first run, we may scale to 500 of each SKU. The promise — one of each per customer, individually numbered, never reissued — stays the same.

What happens after the last numbered unit

The numbered/sealed Founders' Edition retires for both products. Pill bottle 251 onwards is the standard release: same product (same twelve ingredients, same doses, same manufacturer, same halal cert), available as a one-time purchase or a monthly subscription, in the standard cream-label-no-wax-seal format. Powder tin 251 onwards is also the standard release — same matte black tin, the only Powder configuration we ship, minus the engraved numbering and the first-time presentation box. Exact pricing is released at launch.

The Founders' Edition is not coming back. There is no "Founders' Edition Vol 2." This is the once-and-done version. The standard release is the permanent format.

A note on resale

We know some early Founders' Edition customers may consider reselling their bottles or tins, particularly the low numbers. We won't enforce against this — it's yours to do with as you choose — but we will say: the Founders' Edition has nutritional contents that should be taken within the 24-month shelf life. Don't keep one sealed on a shelf for ten years expecting the contents to be usable.

What you do with bottle 001 and tin 001

Pill bottles 001 and 002, and Powder tins 001 and 002, are reserved for the founders. Beyond that — first come, first served from the waitlist signup order, per SKU.

If you joined the waitlist in January 2026, you're near the front of the queue. If you joined in May 2026, you're further back but the first 250 of each SKU still includes a lot of people. Subsequent signups will receive standard release.

The first email confirming Founders' Edition allocation and bottle number will go out the day the HFA certificate is awarded and we initiate the first production batch. Expected late summer 2026.
