The Halal Promise

Halal certification is not a logo. Here is the work.

Five different bodies issue halal certifications in the UK. Each audits to a different depth. We chose to pursue HFA own-brand certification because we want our claim to carry the depth the community deserves. Below is exactly what that means, in practical terms.

The certification status today.

Facility

In place

Our product is made in a UK facility that holds independent food-safety, GMP, and halal facility-level certification. The audit covers the production environment, equipment hygiene, and cross-contamination controls. We name the specific facility, lab, and cert bodies for verified buyers and journalists on request.

Own-brand HFA cert

In final review

Our application with the Halal Food Authority (HFA) is in final review. This audit covers our specific ingredient supply chain, capsule shell composition, label compliance, and per-batch verification protocol. Expected award: Autumn/Winter 2026. No product will ship before the certificate is in hand.

Ingredient declarations

In place

Every ingredient supplier provides a written halal declaration covering the raw material, all processing aids, and any solvents used in standardisation. Where an ingredient is an extract (our clinically characterised ashwagandha extract, our clinically characterised fenugreek extract, K2 (deferred to v4.1)), the processing process itself has been audited and declared halal-compatible by the supplier.

Capsule shell

In place

HPMC (Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose) — a plant-based polymer derived from wood pulp. There is no bovine or porcine gelatin in any part of the product. The capsules are kosher-certified, vegan-suitable, and halal-compatible by composition.

Per-batch lab testing

In place

Every production batch is tested by a UKAS-accredited laboratory for ingredient identity, potency, microbial load, and heavy metals. Certificates of Analysis are stored against the batch number and available on request. Sample retention for two years post-batch.

HMC secondary cert

Under evaluation

We're evaluating Halal Monitoring Committee (HMC) certification as a secondary credential. HMC operates a stricter standard primarily focused on meat — its applicability to a multi-botanical supplement formulation is the question. We'll publish our decision once it's made.

Why we waited.

We could ship product today on the back of our manufacturing partner's facility certification and our own ingredient declarations. That would be technically defensible — most UK halal supplement brands ship on exactly this basis.

We chose not to. Halal certification at the own-brand level — audited by HFA, with a certificate number on every bottle — is a higher standard than the category typically meets. We'd rather wait six months and ship product backed by the full audit than launch quickly with a softer claim.

When the HFA certificate is awarded, the certificate number will appear on every bottle, the certificate PDF will be published on this page, and we'll send the waitlist a note the day it lands.

What "halal certified" actually means.

There are two distinct claims a supplement brand can make:

  1. The facility is halal certified. The manufacturing site has been audited and is permitted to produce halal products. This does not automatically mean every product made there is halal certified.
  2. The own-brand product is halal certified. The specific product, its full ingredient deck, and its label have been audited and approved by the named certifier. This is what we are pursuing.

If you have a question.

We read every email. If you have a halal-cert question we haven't answered on this page, write to info@innatelyhalal.com and we'll come back to you within a working day.

When our HFA certificate is awarded, you'll be able to verify the certificate number directly on the HFA database — we won't ask you to take our word for it.

Waitlist members get first access to the Founders' Edition — 250 numbered Pill bottles and 250 numbered Powder tins, one of each per customer, available only at launch.
